Ray Carmen, and his album "Too Old For Angst" (review)

Inay.info / notes / 3 June 2006, 21:48

May 29, 2006. Warm Morning. Feeling little strange. Further repairs of flat and recording of music for youth theatrical-studio. Midday... The long-awaited letter from Ray Carmen has arrived. CD with an album "Too Old For Angst" and "The Cut And Paste Records" a small catalog with a small message and an autograph from Ray. First impressions, that I have a "bomb" in my hands. But after I have heard and examined the CD, the catalogue and read the message, I smiled. Music is simply excellent. And there is an idea and general mood. Very pleasant voice and the second voices too. Sound of old synthesizers and sometimes easy crackling noise of a magnetic tape. All is very organic. And similar to epoch 70 and 80`s. I think that i understood feelings and idea but shall not speak more. Let everyone draw for their own conclusion. From myself many thanks and my respect to Ray.

"Too Old For Angst" (released 1997-1999) has a folky / progressive sound. Includes the November EP, which is almost all acoustic. Includes My Bloody Valentine meets Nick Drake epic Monster. 16 songs.

Small fragments of songs from album "Too Old For Angst"
